My name is Fred Dawson and I have more than 30 years of comprehensive wealth management experience.  I am dedicated to being a trusted advisor to successful women.

My years of experience in advising successful women, many of whom I've interviewed for my books and articles, has revealed some extraordinary points of view, opinions, feelings and ideas about the financial well-being of women.  One of the prevailing themes today is that women are squeezed between caring for their children, their parents and (lastly!) themselves.  Women tend to think of everyone else first.

What's more, women have a natural propensity to outlive men.  They may be faced with making some decisions they do not feel ready to face.  Many find themselves suddenly faced with a myriad of decisions when they may be most vulnerable to well-intended, but uninformed advice.

 The BDF Process

Executive Vice President of Bassett, Dawson & Foy, Inc., Fred Dawson entered the world of financial planning in 1980. He has earned the professional designations Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). A frequent columnist for the "Ask the Experts" section of The News Journal and other local, national and international publications, Fred can often be heard on both radio and national television. Fred is very active in his community and is either a current member or has strong ties with the following groups: The Christina Educational Enrichment Fund, Past President of the Delaware Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, The International Association of Qualified Financial Planners, Financial Services Institute, Newark Morning Rotary, The Grand Opera House and The First Presbyterian Church of Newark.  He is a Registered Representative of Raymond James Financial Services, ICD Division.

Fred has been named to the 2018 edition of the Forbes list of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors.  The list recognizes top financial advisors at banks, brokerages, custodians, insurance companies, clearing houses and others from across the U.S.  Fred was ranked 5th in the State of Delaware.

This year's Best-In-State Wealth Advisors list spotlights over 2,000 top-performing advisors across the country who were nominated by their firms - and then researched, interviewed and assigned a ranking within their respective states.

Unlike other advisor rankings, SHOOK is not a "robo-ranker" - numbers such as production and assets don't tell the whole story, especially when much of the data is self-reported.  SHOOK Research creates rankings of role models - advisors that are leading the way in offering best practices and providing a high-quality experience for clients.  A focus on both quantitative and qualitative factors, including telephone and in-person meetings, is imperative.

About Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors

The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of 7 years of experience, and the algorithm weighs factors like revenue trends, AUM, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of 21,138 advisors nominated by their firms, 2,213 received the award. Neither Forbes nor SHOOK receives a fee in exchange for rankings. This ranking is not indicative of advisor’s future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients’ experience. Neither Raymond James nor any of its Financial Advisors or RIA firms pay a fee in exchange for this award/rating.
